ED
After moving from Florence to Bologna I met Luca Rapuano, a guy who would only ever use Avant Guard, Futura, Bodoni or Helvetica in his projects. Luca introduced me to graphic design and used ED logo to explain how to design logo marks. At the time, Luca worked in the studio of Gianni Bortolotti, who is the designer of ED – “Elettro Domestici”, “Home Appliances” in English.
I loved the logo. It gave me the idea of giving a graphic design a try. Up until then, being an interior designer, I only ever worked with graphics that could apply to interiors. Like wall or textile patterns.
I wanted to post this logo for a long time, but I also wanted get hold of some drafts from the design process. Two years later and still without the drafts, I give up. This is all I have. It’s also a small tribute to Gianni Bortolotti. Studio Bortolotti shut down in 2007 after Gianni died.
